Thanks to Dr. Sepulveda I found out that my lower back problems were also due to the fact that my feet were in need of correction. The orthodics that she fitted me with has not only helped my plantar fasciitis but my constant lower back pain.

How Much Is Your Health Care Is Worth To You? Explaining the “business” of health care
1. Most patients are unaware of their coverage. If it’s been awhile since they’ve attempted to use their “health” benefits, they probably still think they have a $100 deductible! Unfortunately NOT anymore.
2. Patients assume that their policy will cover everything. Most patients don’t realize that their employer traded full coverage for more affordable premiums. They have catastrophic insurance. Many times as distracting as their presenting complaint is, it simply doesn’t rise to the seriousness of bypass surgery, cancer or diabetes.
3. Patients are inclined to use their coverage as a guide for how much care they will need. In fact, many patients are likely to think (as many carriers do) that you’re exaggerating the amount of care that is needed, the number of visits that will be required or the time it will take to produce results. Why? Because they don’t thing in long-term goals it’s all based on short-term expectations, with minimal ridiculous amount of time for our bodies healing capabilities. And you can forget the ongoing supportive care needed to help avoid a relapse!
4. Vague, unwritten financial arrangements create misunderstanding and mistrust. Back when an insurance company would pick up the tab, doctors could accept assignment and the financial part of the health care equation for patients virtually disappeared. For patients, health care seemed, well, free.
5. Accepting assignment now is basically a license to steal. From you! Turns out, you’re the third party. Arbitrarily cutting your claims by 30% or more is so easy it’s done with impunity. Not to mention those insurance company audits in which they ask you to send back thousands they “over paid” you. Which is about what the legal fees would cost you to contest their extortionary technique.
Bottom line?
The fact is, most patients in the United States have been poisoned. A growing dependence on insurance policies with low deductibles and managed care arrangements with puny co-pays has lulled most patients into a false sense of security. This has created s communication problem for doctors and patients--- explaining the severe limitations of insurance coverage.
Would You Pay Cash For You?
Many people are unsure what an adjustment is worth, what it should cost and what an actual patient would be willing to pay. How much would you pay for you?
Even with most compelling chiropractic and financial education, patients who are a bad transmission away from bankruptcy may choose to go down the street to the struggling chiropractor still willing to take the crumbs doled out by an HMO.
