Thanks to Dr. Sepulveda I found out that my lower back problems were also due to the fact that my feet were in need of correction. The orthodics that she fitted me with has not only helped my plantar fasciitis but my constant lower back pain.

The first pictures depicting spinal manipulation date back to 17,500 B.C. and were discovered in prehistoric cave paintings in Point le Merd in southwestern France. The ancient Chinese were using manipulation in 2700 B.C; we also know that the ancient Japanese, Egyptians, Babylonians, Hindus, Tibetans and Syrians all practiced spinal manipulation. Hippocrates was a Greek physician who died in 377 B.C. He wrote over seventy books on healing and was a proponent of spinal manipulation. He believed that only nature could heal and it was the physician’s duty to remove any obstruction that would prevent the body from healing.
“Get knowledge of the spine, for this is the requisite for many diseases”
Hippocrates, 460-377 BC.
Types of manipulation continued all over the world until Daniel David (D.D.) Palmer discovered the correct specific spinal adjustment. It was his son, B.J. Palmer, who later developed it into the modern philosophy, art and science of chiropractic we are familiar with today. Chiropractic is now the largest natural health care profession in the world, Chiropractic prides itself on its science, philosophy and art, along with its effectiveness.
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a health care system that directly concerns itself with the nervous system and its relation to the function of the human body. Chiropractic is a health care profession that emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery.
Chiropractic is best known for its success with many musculoskeletal conditions, but there’s really much more to this natural method of health care. Without using drugs or surgery, chiropractic is among the three largest providers of health services in the United States. Many people choose doctors of chiropractic as their primary doctors and include chiropractic care in their health maintenance programs.
The Science
It’s a scientific fact that your brain, spinal cord and the rest of your nervous system control every aspect of your body. Hinder the vital nerve links between your brain and your body, and ill health can result. A common source of interference comes from bones and muscles that encase the “information superhighway” of your spinal cord.
Spinal misalignments/subluxations can cause nerve pressure creating numbness, weakness or the under-performance of organs and tissues. Also nerve tissue to stretch, chafe or become irritated. This can distort nerve messages between your body and your brain.
Your body is much like the Internet: your brain is your computer, your spinal cord
the information highway, your spinal vertebrae which house nerves, arteries and veins are the links to your organs, such as heart, lungs, intestines, reproductive organs.
Chiropractic is the science of finding these areas of spinal malfunction, the art of correcting them and the philosophy of all things natural as we have been created.
The Philosophy
Chiropractic emphasizes optimum health as a natural state, and helps patients achieve and maintain a higher level of wellness. Facilitating health through the body’s inherent ability to heal is what makes chiropractic unique in health care today. Chiropractic philosophy recognizes that the power that creates the body can heal the body, as long as there is no interference in between the brain and the body. Chiropractors do not treat symptoms. Our job is to locate the cause of dis-ease, the nerve interference, and correct it.
The Art
Doctors of chiropractic are specialists in evaluating the spine for dysfunctional areas called subluxations. Theses areas of altered spinal motion or alignment can interfere with normal nerve function and overall health. Subluxations are corrected with the chiropractic adjustment using gentle and precise methods. Infinite Body Health offers a variety of adjustive techniques, including low-force methods. Techniques are chosen after considering each patient’s individual needs, performance or preferences. Our doctor masters the adjusting “art” of chiropractic which includes a comprehensive evaluation, a review of health history, and arrival at a clear diagnosis and a recommended specific treatment specific treatment plan customized for each patient.
Advantages of Spinal Adjustments
What Research shows about Chiropractic Spinal Adjustments/manipulations?
Patients who receive spinal manipulation and exercise for acute low back pain will improve more and faster than patients who received exercise alone.
· Restore normal position of musculoskeletal joint complex (joint, muscle and nerve)
· Showed Increase ranges of motion
· Increase joint flexibility
· Increase immunological function
· Improves patient function
· Spinal manipulation is cost-effective
· Improves health related quality of life
· Reduces the development of new health problems
· Reduces future loss time from work
· Reduces the use of future medical/hospital services
· Early after injury/whiplash: Improves joint propioception & nutrition of cartilage, decreases the formation of tissue adhesions, minimizes muscle wasting & loss of strength
· Treatment of lumbar intervertebral disk herniation by side posture manipulation is both safe and effective
What is a Subluxation?
You have more than 200 bones in your body. Whenever two bones come together at a joint, there can be movement. Since joints in your spine are so close to your spinal cord and nerve roots, too much or too little joint motion can have detrimental effects.
A subluxation alters and prevents normal flow of impulses from the brain to the rest of your body. It interferes with the spinal cord or spinal nerves that exit between them. Directly affects the nervous system and, possibly, related areas of the body controlled by the nervous system. It also creates changes in normal movements and patterns in your spine and extremity joints. Caused by postural, vertebral or neuro-muscular-articular dysfunction in the spine or extremities.
If spinal bones get “stuck” and don’t move right, they can irritate delicate nerves. Otherwise if a joint move too much, spinal bones and adjacent ligaments and tendons can press against nerve tissue.
Like the separate notes of a musical chord, subluxations can simultaneously involve joints, nerves, muscles, soft tissues and degenerative changes.
Like a cell phone that disconnects, a subluxations may cause your brain and body to lose vital communications subluxations are caused by stress which can be caused by a either or combination of physical trauma, chemical toxins &/or emotional stress.
Physical stress includes slips and falls, accidents such as motor vehicle accidents, sports traumas, repetitive motions like working with computers, and improper lifting.
Chemical stress can be alcohol, drugs, pollution and poor diet (eating fast food, processed foods, unbalanced diet).
Emotional stress are continuous family&/or work stress (anger and fear)
With these different type of stress that our body goes in day by day muscles become too tight or too week. Our discs, ligaments and tissues become silently inflamed (if physical stress or trauma is not involved). Degenerative changes such as bone spurs and arthritic changes can set in. However, the most important aspect of subluxations is its effect on your nervous system. Compromising the way your nervous system controls and regulates your body can have grave consequences. Distorted communications between your brain and body can cause all kinds of health problems beyond just headaches, neck pain and low backaches among others.
A chiropractic doctor is the only one licensed health care professional dedicated to the detection, reduction, correction and prevention of spinal subluxations.

Relief vs. Corrective Care
Relief Care- is the care necessary to get rid of your symptoms or pain, but not the cause of it. It is the same as drying a floor that was getting wet from a leak, but not fixing it.
Corrective Care- Differs from relief care in that its goal is to get rid of the symptoms or pain while correcting the cause of the problem. Corrective care varies in length of time, but is more lasting.
Symptoms of Spinal Misalignment
The nervous system controls and coordinates all organs and structures of the human body. Misalignments of spinal vertebrae and discs may cause irritation to the nervous system and affect the structures, organs, and functions, which may result in the following conditions but not limited to:
C1: headaches, nervousness, insomnia, head colds, high blood pressure, migraine headaches, nervous breakdowns, amnesia, chronic tiredness, dizziness.
C2: sinus trouble, allergies, deafness, eye troubles, earache, fainting spells, vision difficulties.
C3: neuralgia, neuritis, acne or pimples, eczema.
C4: hay fever, hearing loss, adenoids.
C5: laryngitis, hoarseness, sore throats, quincy.
C6: stiff neck, pain in upper arm tonsillitis, whooping cough, and croup.
C7: bursitis, colds, thyroid conditions.
